THE PARADE COMPANY AND TARGET GEAR UP FOR THE 50TH BIRTHDAY OF THE TARGET FIREWORKS
The Parade Company and Target are pleased to announce the annual Detroit summertime tradition – the Target Fireworks – will take place on Monday, June 23, 2008 at 10:06 p.m. The Target Fireworks, celebrating 50 years, is one of the world’s most spectacular and largest firework displays in the nation, lighting up the international skyline over the Detroit River.
“Traditions that have lasted 50 years are treasures in our community. They become part of our family celebrations. Given the families who plan their vacations and Fourth of July celebrations early, we have decided to announce the move of the Target Fireworks to Monday, June 23,” said Matthew P. Cullen, Chair of The Michigan Thanksgiving Parade Foundation. “The spectacular Target Fireworks reminds us all why we love our city, our community and our country.”
“Target is committed to local communities across the country and we are proud to support the Target Fireworks for its 50th birthday” said Rich Reynolds, group vice president, Target. “This spectacular event brings people together to celebrate the spirit of summer in Detroit.”
The Official VIP Rooftop Party, atop the Miller Parking Garage, features the best seats in the city to watch the Target Fireworks with entertainment, food, games and activities for children and fun for all. This spectacular event is a major fundraiser for The Parade Company and all proceeds benefit The Parade Company. The Rooftop Party will feature the Super Singer Live contest, presented by WDIV-Local 4, showcasing some of metro Detroit’s best singers who will compete in a local American Idol-type contest. Target Fireworks with entertainment, food, games and activities for children and fun for all.
Choreographed by Zambelli Fireworks Internationale, the more than 10,000 pyrotechnic effects can be viewed for many miles along the Detroit International Riverfront. The Target Fireworks can be viewed on WDIV-Local 4’s live broadcast, beginning at 9:00 p.m. www.clickondetroit.com will provide up to the minute traffic and weather information throughout the day.
