Hats Off Detroit!
2007 marks the 81st America's Thanksgiving Parade®, one of the largest and most spectacular parades in the nation! Every year on Thanksgiving Day, something magical happens on Detroit's Woodward Avenue. A holiday tradition that dates back to 1924, America's Thanksgiving Parade® has captured the imaginations of millions of children and their families for generations.
On November 22, 2007 we will celebrate the success of the great city of Detroit. Over the past decade, Detroit has seen some major transformations; new businesses, entertainment, restaurants, sporting and cultural events, festivals and of course PARADES!! With the exciting rebirth of the downtown area...the 2007 Parade celebrates "Hats off Detroit!" More than one million curbside spectators and a parade filled with award-winning floats, larger than life balloons, bands, celebrities and antique papier-mâché heads all combine to create a must see event on Thanksgiving morning.
Last year the 80th birthday celebration saw a new parade route, modeled after the original route in 1924. This new route highlighted some of the city's greatest architectural treasures, such as the Fox Theater, and some of downtown's latest developments including Merchant's Row, Compuware World Headquaters and Campus Martius Park. We will again follow this historic route for the 2007 Parade, which begins in Midtown at Woodward and Mack Avenues and ends in downtown Detroit at Woodward and Congress.
The best place to watch the Parade is from the Official Grandstand Seats. Seating will be located at step-off, Foxtown, Grand Circus Park and along Merchants Row (TV-Zone).
